Kristen DeBruycker began her martial arts when she was 9 years old. That was the day she took her first Tae Kwon Do class. After she moved to Loudoun County, Virginia from Fairfax County, Virginia.
Nothing made her happier as a child than training martial arts. At age 12 Kristen began training at Kreimer’s Karate in Purcellville, VA. There she trained a blended style of Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do. She competed in tournaments and received her 1st degree black belt at age 16.
Shortly after she started teaching the white belt class and helped with open rank classes. It was at that time she was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai for the first time.
After graduating High School Kristen went on to study at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. There Kristen began her study of philosophy. She also started the martial arts club and began teaching women’s self defense seminars. In 2006 Kristen started training BJJ and Muay Thai at Hybrid Martial Arts.
After graduation she moved back to Northern Virginia where she continued her training in BJJ and Muay Thai at One Spirit Martial Arts. There, Kristen competed in Thai, BJJ, and MMA.
In 2010 Kristen started training Filipino Martial Arts under Guro Bryan Mossey and shortly after she started doing seminars with Tuhan Dan Inosanto. Kristen continued to evolve her training and started focusing more on self-defense and less on competitive MMA.
This change of focus lead her to round out her skill set with FMA and JKD training. In May 2017 Kristen was accepted into the instructorship program in FMA and JKD directly under Tuhan Dan Inosanto.
Today Kristen continues to grow as a martial artist and a person. She trains people in person and online. Kristen also travels and runs women’s self defense workshops.
