Foodjitsu Friday: Perfectly Poached Eggs

I love poached eggs! They make me feel so fancy when I eat them. I hate making them though. Especially the old fashioned way in a sauce pan trying to find the egg floating around in leftover egg whites. I found a great way to poach eggs and do them 4 at a time! It’s not magic it’s Foodjitsu!

Perfectly Poached Eggs

Who doesn't love a poached egg? It makes you feel fancy!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 4 eggs

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

  1. Get out your trusty cast-iron skillet and fill it 2/3rds of the way up with water. Bring to a low boil and add vinegar and salt.

  2. While water is boiling get out your eggs and a small prep bowl.

  3. Crack one egg into prep bowl and gently drop the egg into the low boiling water. Repeat the process with remaining eggs.

  4. Use a spoon to coat the eggs with the water until you can no longer see the yolk on top. About 30 seconds.

  5. Let the eggs finish poaching in the water for about 3-3 1/2 minutes. Take them out in the order you put them in with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to dry off excess water.

  6. Enjoy these egg with anything! In fact, try my hollandaise sauce.
